Quick answer: Blood pressure has two numbers: systolic (when the heart beats) over diastolic (between beats). The American Heart Association calls under 120/80 normal, 120 to 129 systolic elevated, and 130/80 or higher high blood pressure. A reading over 180/120 needs urgent care.
